Following the success of the 3-peak challenge in 2004, the 8-peak challenge in 2006, and the 8-Lake challenge in 2007,
this year Captain Phil Layton and Wes Carroll decided to take on the rigours involved in completing the British 10K London Run.

Wes & Phil - 1
This run, with 25,000 competitors, is becoming increasingly popular alongside the London Marathon for people who either love to run long distance or else need such an event to raise funds for charitable causes.
Phil & Wes definitely fall into the latter category, as running for 10K (6.25 miles) is not something they are used to!

Indeed, much of the challenge has been within the training which has produced pints of sweat, aching joints, the odd bout of nausea, but  also resulting in losing weight and gaining appropriate muscle, as well as becoming psychologically adjusted to pushing through various pain barriers... all within a time frame of about 4 months.

Wes & Phil -2

Hopefully, by 6th July they will not only be able to complete the course, but also complete the 'challenge' element which is to finish with an average which is faster than 60minutes each!

Below is the route for the British 10K London Run, as produced on their website.

Completing this course within 60minutes will be quite an achievement for two men who have never run such a distance for over a decade, so please do help us to raise funds for the vital work of The Salvation Army by clicking on the button below and donating online, or else by sending a cheque to:
